Fishing Holidays Ireland at The Manor House Lodge

The Manor House Lodge in Moneymore, County Tyrone makes an ideal base for fishing holidays in Ireland. Set in rural Ulster the bed and breakfast offers superb accommodation and is centrally located for excellent trout and salmon fishing in the Foyle and game fishing in Lough Neagh.

The Foyle System.

The Foyle system is recognised as one of the most prolific Salmon and Sea Trout fisheries in Europe.

The main tributaries running through the Sperrin Region from the Foyle are the Mourne, Derg and Strule, all fast flowing, rocky rivers, abundant with Salmon, Sea Trout and Brown Trout during mid June to October, although scores of splendid Grilse may be caught from March to April.
Running through the Sperrin Mountains, the Owenkillew and Glenelly Rivers provide classic spate river fishing through Summer and Autumn, while the Camowen and Owenreagh rivers can be fished throughout September and October.

Lough Neagh System

Across the hills from the renowned Foyle System, the Eastern Sperrins provides an excellent choice for Game fishing.
Lough Neagh is the largest freshwater lake in UK and tributaries such as the Ballinderry River and the Moyola River are especially attractive for the Trout angler. The Dollaghan, a unique species of Lough Neagh migratory Brown Trout, can be caught when they run the many tributaries from mid-July to the end of the season (end of October). Dollaghan in many ways are similar to Salmon and grow by up to 3lb every year while in the Lough. Successful methods are spinning, worming, and fly fishing. The fly is often most productive in the evening and into the night. Other main species within these waters include River Brown Trout, Salmon and Eel. River Brown Trout, Wild Fish, which are numerous throughout the river and take wet fly from March on and from May dry fly fishing is excellent sport.
