Derg River

20 miles, 32km
Castlederg Anglers Club
Castlederg, County Tyrone

The Derg is a big ( 20m+) spate river with a fine head of wild Brown Trout, but it is best known as a Salmon and Sea Trout water. The Sea Trout are at their best from late May to August and although a spate in late May can see Salmon in the river, late June to the end of the season often sees the best of the Grilse and Salmon fishing, given the right water conditions. It has much excellent fly water although spinning and worming are also permitted.
