Strule River
An excellent Salmon river, the Strule is approximately 26 miles long.
Nearest towns are Omagh and Newtownstewart. All legal methods of fishing
permitted except ground bait, maggots, prawns and shrimps.
Camowen River
River runs South East of Omagh Town. All legal methods permitted except
ground bait, maggots, prawns, shrimps.
Drumragh River
South of Omagh, off A5, approximately 12 miles long. All legal methods
permitted except ground bait, maggots, prawns, shrimps.
Owenkillew River
Nearest towns Newtownstewart and Gortin. Entrance is via the white gates
to the Beltrim Estate at the cross roads in Gortin, that is where the
B48 (Plumbridge to Omagh) and B46 (Sixmilecross to Newtownstewart) meet.
Successful method is Fly Fishing.
Fish Type - Salmon, Sea Trout and Brown Trout.
Season - 14th April – 20th October You will need a Licence and a
Day ticket
Licence Authority - Loughs Agency - While there is a good head of Brown
Trout in all of these medium sized (5- 20m) rivers, with the Strule probably
being the best for this type of fishing, they are regarded more as Sea
Trout or Salmon waters. The Owenkillew would be the best for Sea Trout
with the two best months being June and July. There can be a few early
Salmon but it is generally from mid June to the end of the season that
the Salmon fishing is best depending on the water conditions. Fly fishing,
spinning and worming are all allowed and a Ghillie service at £50/day
can be arranged.
Day Tickets
There are an unlimited number of day tickets available from Monday to
Friday, at £12/rod/day. Six day tickets only are available at the
weekends.Tickets may be booked in advance through the day ticket outlets.
