The Loughshore Trail cycle route provides local and visitors a unique opportunity to cycle around Lough Neagh the largest fresh water lake in the British Isles. The cycle way forms a continuous route around the shores of the Lough. While the more experienced cyclists may choose to cycle the entire 113 mile route, families may prefer to cycle shorter routes of 10-20 miles, for example, starting from Antrim Forum cyclists can do a circular route to Randalstown or Ballyronan and back to the Forum. From Ballyronan Marina, cyclists can ride to the Battery Harbour perhaps visiting Coyles Cottage, Kinturk Cultural Centre or Ardboe Cross before returning to Ballyronan. Also known as Route 94 of the National Cycle Network, this route is clearly signposted with blue cycle way signs that display the Loughshore Trail loge and route number 94. By cycling the Loughshore trail you can sample the diverse cultural heritage of the Loughs region. From rich local history to the outstanding natural beauty, there is a wealth of attractions to be experienced. This predominantly rural area offers excellent opportunities for fishing, golf and water sports. Golf courses can be found all round the Lough at Castledawson, Magherafelt, Ballyronan and Cookstown.
