Routes for Northern Ireland Cycling Holidays

National Cycling Network Route 92
Route: Enniskillen - Omagh - Newtownstewart -Sion Mills - Derry City.
Distance - 80 Miles

Route 92 leaves Enniskillen and travels via the villages of Trillick and Fintona. It then enters Omagh on the traffic-free Riverside Path, along the banks of the Camowen River. Passing through the grounds of Omagh Leisure Complex and past Grange Park, site of the Wishbone Sculpture ( Created by artist Niall Walshe). Route 92 heads out of Omagh into the countryside along an unsegregated foot/cycling path passing Coronation cottage to Gortnagarn. From here the route continues on quiet country roads towards Newtownstewart, with wonderful views overlooking the River Strule. A short, signed detour 2 miles takes you over the river to the Ulster American Folk Park one of Northern Irelands premiere tourist attractions.

Continue along the Valley into Newtownstewart, leaving the village and once again crossing the river under the new bypass the route continues on to Douglas Bridge. A short link is signposted down to the old mill village of Sion Mills, which involves crossing the river on a suspension bridge. Just 4 miles further on up the road is the town of Strabane. The route also passes the local TIC in the centre of town.

Leaving the town the cyclist passes the impressive sculpture “let the Dance Begin” designed by Maurice Harron, before crossing the boarder at the Foyle River into Lifford in County Donegal. The route then continues along winding country roads before re-crossing the boarder and following the River Foyle along a disused railway line and into the City of Derry.
